B78 Sicilian Defence: Dragon

ECO code B78 covers the Yugoslav Attack of the Sicilian Dragon with castling on opposite sides: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 6.Be3 Bg7 7.f3 O-O 8.Qd2 Nc6 9.Bc4 Bd7 10.O-O-O. White's bishop on c4 eyes f7 and the long diagonal, while the plan is h4–h5 to open the h-file against the black king. Black counters on the queenside with ...Rc8, ...Ne5 and often an exchange sacrifice on c3. The Soltis Variation, 10...Rc8 11.Bb3 Ne5 12.h4 h5, halts White's h-pawn at once.
