B35 Sicilian Defence: Accelerated Dragon

ECO code B35 covers a branch of the Sicilian Accelerated Dragon, reached by 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 g6 5. Nc3 Bg7 6. Be3 Nf6 7. Bc4. Black fianchettoes the king's bishop without first playing ...d6, keeping the option of striking with ...d5 in one move. White develops the bishop to c4, where it aims at f7 and supports a kingside attack. After 7...O-O 8. Bb3, the bishop retreats early to avoid the trick ...Nxe4 followed by ...d5, which wins back the piece with a fork. The alternative 7...Qa5 pins the c3-knight and prepares ...Nxe4 at once.
