B90 Sicilian Defence: Najdorf

After 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6, the Najdorf Sicilian, B90 covers White's sixth-move tries 6.Be3 and 6.h3. The move 5...a6 keeps b5 from White's pieces and prepares ...e5 or ...b5. Against 6.Be3 Black can play ...e5, accepting a hole on d5 in return for space, or ...e6 for a Scheveningen set-up. The English Attack follows with f3, Qd2, castling queenside and a pawn storm with g4. Black can also chase the bishop with 6...Ng4. The move 6.h3 prepares g4 at once to drive the knight from f6.
